People cycling along canal

There are a few local groups in Inverness offering different cycling experiences. The Velocity run Cycle to Health project is great for people looking to increase their cycling skills and confidence. For those already confident cyclists, we have a weekly Social Ride (scroll down for more). Cycling UK is a great place to discover other local cycling groups.

Velocity Social rides

Velocity hosts a weekly social ride open to anyone who is comfortable and competent on a bicycle. Alternating between weekdays and weekends, these rides are led by trained volunteers and are perfect for anyone looking to get out and socialise or try their hand at group cycling.

Starting and finishing at Velocity, our routes will take you out to explore areas surrounding Inverness. There is something for everyone with these rides, and we will always have an outline of each route so you know what to expect.

You can find out when our next rides are on our Events page.

Kidical Mass

Kidical Mass Rides are inclusive of all abilities and bike types and are intended to provide fun, safe environments for families and friends to cycle together - they highlight the need for safe, segregated routes that enable children to walk, wheel and cycle.

Rides take place on the 1st Saturday of each month starting at 1:30pm at Bellfeild Park.

Spokes for Folks

Spokes for Folks provide sociable assisted trike rides, piloted by a pool of trained volunteers, for the elderly and those with limited mobility wherever they live.

Collaborating with other organisations, they deliver these rides to break down barriers of social isolation and disability access while promoting the use of green spaces and intergenerational work for the physical and mental wellbeing of our community.

Find out more on the Spokes for Folks web page.

Critical Mass

Critical Mass is a global movement, advocating for safer streets in towns and cities. The aim is to show demand for cycling while also demonstrating ‘safety in numbers’. In doing so, Critical Mass events are a call to action for local authorities to ensure active travel is properly considered in road and infrastructure design.

Join them for a community-led bike ride in town on the 3rd Thursday of every month, 6pm at Falcon Square.

Highland BlinD tandem club

The Highland Blind Tandem Club was formed to create a leisure and recreation activity for blind, partially-sighted, and disabled people. Through working with trained, sighted pilots members are provided with a regular means of exercise; access to the countryside; building relationships; acquiring skills and responsibility; and to be involved in an exciting sport.
