Adult & Family cycle training

Would you like to feel more confident on a bike and feel happy and relaxed cycling for short everyday journeys? We regularly provide 1-3 hour individually tailored cycling skills sessions to meet your needs and make you feel more confident. We work 1:1 and in small groups of 1-4 people, or with a family group and our instructors are friendly and supportive. We are happy to work with anyone at any level of ability!

Our sessions are tailored specifically for adults like you, offering a supportive and inclusive environment to learn and enhance your cycling skills. Whether you're an absolute beginner, someone looking to refresh their cycling abilities, or aiming to build confidence on busy streets, our qualified instructors are here to guide you every step of the way.

Man cycling on road

our levels

Thanks to support from Cycling Scotland, we provide cycle training sessions for individuals and families.

There are four levels:

  • Absolute beginners (working on balance, steering and braking before adding pedalling into the mix)

  • Introduction to on-road skills (in traffic-free/quiet locations to increase bike control and use of gears, learn basic road skills, signalling and bike positioning). This is aimed at people who can ride a bike but are not very confident on a bike

  • Road skills (learning about road positioning, starting and stopping, left and right hand turns initially on quiet roads, progressing onto busier junctions if appropriate). This is for people who can control their bike well, can start, stop and signal with one hand without wobbling.

  • Family sessions (for families who wish to cycle together with more confidence, designed to provide parents/guardians with the skills and confidence to cycle together safely as a group).

Cargo Bike Training

Our team are able to deliver specific training for those who are looking to use cargo bikes for work or leisure.

The course is aimed at those already confident at cycling on the road and will familiarise participants with the unique riding characteristics of cargo bikes and key manoeuvres.
