Social Ride - Milton of Culloden via Balloch

  • Velocity Café & Bicycle Workshop 1 Crown Avenue Inverness, Scotland, IV2 3NF United Kingdom (map)

Join us on our weekly social ride to ride with a group of friendly, welcoming folk- no lycra required, and nobody ever left behind.

Meeting at Velocity for a 10am setting off time, this ride will take the group along a ride east out of Inverness along a combination of roads and cycle paths to Barn Church Road. From here we will ride up and through to Balloch before turning off the main road along a shared walking/cycling route, continuing between fields making our way down to the A96. Dismounting to cross the A road, the route carries on to the coast overlooking the Moray Firth - perfect for a rest stop. On the return leg, we come along the A96 shared path to join up with UHI cycleway, finishing at Velocity.

This route contains a few gentle consistent slopes and includes a busy road crossing. The total ride distance is approx. 15km (10miles) and will take around 1.5-2 hrs to complete (including a break at Milton of Culloden). You can expect an average pace of around 15km/hr (10mph) on this ride. You can view the full route here.

No booking required, but please ensure you have completed an Emergency Contact Form before your first ride with us.

As with all outdoor activities, it is important that you attend well prepared. We recommend you check up on the weather forecast before heading out, and bring warm layers, gloves, and waterproofs even if it looks nice. Please also ensure you have something to drink and eat for the journey. We strongly recommend you wear a helmet and bring a set of charged lights - particularly at this time of year.

You can find more information on being prepared for a ride on our Active Travel Hub Cycling pages
