Youth Climate Advocates

Our Youth Climate Advocates programme aims to empower young people to take action on sustainable consumption in their local communities and across the Highlands.

If you are living in the Highlands and aged 18-24, you can get free climate emergency training!

  • Learn the basics of climate change, what is being done to address it and how you can help.

  • Learn about the circular economy and how our consumption habits are linked to climate change.

  • Learn about the Highland Community Waste Partnership, what we’re doing in your area and how you can get involved.

  • Connect with other Youth Climate Advocates in the Highlands.

  • Get certified as Carbon Literate.

Do you work with young people aged 11-24 in the Highlands? Contact us to arrange free Youth Climate Advocate training for your youth group, club or organisation. Our course provides an introduction to the causes and impacts of the climate crisis, as well as what can be done to address it. This climate emergency training course consists of three, two-hour sessions, taken over three weeks. Each session is delivered by a qualified facilitator, followed by a number of self-study tasks to be completed before the next session.

Alongside increasing their awareness about climate change, attendees will receive Carbon Literacy Project certification which can be added to CVs, university applications, Duke of Edinburgh awards, or contribute to other schemes such as the new High Life Highland Green Leadership Award. They will also have a chance to translate their learning into meaningful action in their community and contribute to the work of the Highland Community Waste Partnership.

You can find more information about the training here.
